We have to listen to Cris Collinsworth?

Still better than Phil Simms.

True. But not much. What’s what over/under on when he starts losing his voice?

On the bright side, its better than LOOKING at Cris Collinsworth.

Just watch Star Trek instead?

You’re always going to be stuck with one of:
Chris Collinsworth
Phil Simms
Joe Buck AND Troy Aikman
so we lose no matter what.

Better than Joe Buck.
Seriously, fuck Joe Buck.
I’m a Dodgers fan and hearing his bleating every year the Dodgers were in the playoffs over the angelic tones of Vin Scully was a goddamn travesty.

Better him then Joe Buck

Maybe I could find some radio coverage and turn down the TV. Though I like Al Michaels.

You won’t be that lucky.

I do too. They should have audibled in Romo.

Buck sucks but literally EVERYONE is a downgrade from Vin Scully, and I’m a Cubs fan.

Would you prefer Richard Simmons?

AARP.
LOL

Collinsworth really is a fucking idiot. HE TOOK 3 FUCKING STEPS AND CROSSED THE PLANE. IT’S A FUCKING CATCH AND A FUCKING TOUCHDOWN.

Good on the head ref for actually taking a beat to explain the (upheld) call.
So glad they didn’t take away the earlier one either. It was a great catch, and he was re-gripping the ball - no bobbling or loss of possession.

They really need to fix the rule this offseason.

The catch rule in the NFL is such a joke, along with that whole “breaking the plane” BS and figuring where the ball was the millisecond the runner’s knee hit the ground. Rugby has it right. If you fall and slide and get into the end zone, it’s a score. If you catch the ball, you catch the ball. All of this malarkey started with instant replay. It’s been a blessing, but it’s also been a curse.

The breaking the plane rule does make for some exciting dives at/over the pylons. The rules just need to level the field between an RB and a WR - it shouldn’t be so easy for an RB to score and so onerous for a WR (although the two-foot in rule makes for some awesome acrobatics by these guys).

But what I always question about that is, how can a play be a touchdown when you hit/pass the ball over a pylon that is wholly out of bounds ? Wouldn’t it make more sense to put the pylon inside the field of play? That way, if you hit it, you are in bounds. In the photo below, if you happen to hit the out-of-bounds half of the pylon, it’s a touchdown, even though the ball is out of bounds.

Yeah, that doesn’t make sense... It just needs to be moved over 2 inches.

Yeah, the earlier catch I thought might get overturned because they’ve been ruling like that all year. When it wasn’t, I was totally ok with it.
